Infinite Networks Partners with a College in Maidenhead for Phased Campus-Wide Network Overhaul Using HPE Aruba Technology

Infinite Networks is delighted to announce our ongoing project with a college in Maidenhead, where we’re undertaking a comprehensive overhaul of their network infrastructure. From ground-up recabling to advanced network design and switching, we’re implementing a high-performance, campus-wide solution. While wireless connectivity is a component, our primary focus is revamping the entire network system to meet the college’s growing needs.

Project Overview: A Comprehensive Solution for the College Campus

After thorough assessments and close consultations with the college administration, we’ve designed a high-speed network with customised solutions to serve the college’s 15-building campus. Our work includes:

  • 1 Recabling: Replacing outdated cabling infrastructure to support higher data throughput and reliability.
  • 2 Network Design and Switching: Implementing advanced network switches and designing a scalable architecture for future expansion.
  • 3 Wireless Connectivity: Installing wireless access points to enhance mobility and accessibility across the campus.
Given the extensive use of college facilities during term time, we’ve scheduled installations during the holiday periods to minimise disruption. The project is structured in multiple phases, allowing us to progress significantly during each break without affecting campus activities.

Phase One: Installation and Configuration

  • 1 Network Infrastructure: Installed 32 HPE Aruba access switches and four fully redundant core switches connected to a Juniper firewall, all fully configured and tested.
  • 2 Recabling Efforts: Completed extensive re-cabling across critical areas to support the new infrastructure.
  • 3 Wireless Access Points: Mounted 40 HPE Aruba 515RW Access Points (APs).
  • 4 Next Steps: Configuration of the wireless network to be completed in the next phase.
In this initial phase, we focused on laying a robust foundation for the network. Installing network switches and cabling ensures that the infrastructure can handle increased data loads and provide faster, more reliable connections. The wireless component, while important, is just one aspect of this comprehensive upgrade.
With an expected total of 82 access points upon project completion, the installation will ultimately offer uninterrupted wireless connectivity across all 15 buildings, supporting various devices and applications essential to students and staff.

Expected Completion and Next Steps

Our phased approach allows us to complete the final installation phases by February, enabling the college to fully transition to the new network infrastructure at the start of the next academic term. The implementation of HPE Aruba technology, supported by equipment from VitrX, will empower the campus with consistent, high-speed connectivity, enhancing learning and collaboration.

A Partnership in Innovation and Excellence

Our partnership with the college reflects a shared commitment to innovation, quality, and adaptability. By overhauling the network from the ground up and integrating HPE Aruba technology, we’re delivering a future-ready solution that meets current demands while accommodating growth and evolving needs.

Stay tuned for more updates as we progress through the subsequent phases of this exciting project. We look forward to unveiling a fully connected, next-generation campus for the college in February!
